What does Dabang or Dabangg mean?

Dabangg is an upcoming film of Salman Khan where he is playing a role of corrupt cop. In Dabangg, Salman is in a moustache look and Sonakshi Sinha is in a simple small town girl. Dabangg is a hindi term and many people are wondering about the meaning of this term. If you are also thinking that what does Dabang or Dabangg means, here is the answer.

Dabang or Dabangg is used to call someone who’s power is dominated on everything in his area. Most of the time, this term is used in North India. For example, “Bhanu Pratap Singh (random name) ek Dabang neta hain”. This way people in that area shows some respect for that person.

Those who are Dabang or Dabangg, they never fear from anybody. They do whatever they want to do.

I hope this kind of image will suit on Salman Khan in the film. Film promos are showing him doing whatever he wants to do in that area. That means “He is the Dabangg” in his area. Let us see if he also geta a chance to be a ‘Dabangg’ in Bollywood film industry with this movie.

The Karate Kid Sequel Got Kung Fu Panda Writers

“The Karate Kid” film which was released in June 2010 has grossed around 300 million till date. It was a $40 million budget film. Now Will Smith’s Overbrook Entertainment , the production company of “The Karate Kid”, has started working on the sequel of this film. And this time they are hiring 2008 – hollywood animation movie “Kung Fu Panda” writers to pen the script for The Karate Kid – sequel. Cyrus Voris and Ethan Reiff, the writer duo of one of the best animation movie based on Kung Fu has started working on the script for the sequel of Karate Kid.

Of course , Jaden Smith is expected to be the part of the sequel and his dad’s company will be doing the same thing they did for “The Karate Kid”. Columbia Pictures have not revealed anything related to the location and other stuff related to the movie but announcements are expected in next few months.

Anyways, It is sure that “The Karate Kid – sequel” is coming.

Match Fixing in Pakistan – England Lord’s Test; Salman Butt, Asif, Amir, Akmal Involved

In a sting operation with a match fixer in London, it is found that the current match between Pakistan and England was fixed. It was fixed to deliver three no balls in the game. London-based fixer Mazhar Majeed was involved n this fixing and he said that 7 players of Pakistan cricket team are in his pocket. That involves Pakistani skipper Salman Butt, keeper Akmal, Mohammad Asif and Amir as well. Reported gave £150,000 to Mazhar Majeed for the no balls in that game. It was seen by millions of cricket fans that those 3 no balls were delivered on the same time when they were promised.

This is definitely a shame for PCB and Pakistan cricket. When that country and countrymen are struggling with flood problems, these cricketers were enjoying the game fixing. Google Chrome OS Tablet coming this November on Verizon

Google is planning to release its own Chrome OS tablets by November 26’th 2010. HTC is already working on this tablet and this time Google is planning to release it on Data services provider Verizon. Cost of the device and data is expected to be cheaper than iPad so that Google can capture early birds. HTC is the same company which had created Nexus One for Google so it is not difficult to believe that HTC is working on this tablet. Tablet market is definitely going to be so populated by end of this year as companies like ASUS, HP, Microsoft et are already planning to release one by this year end.

US Hikes H1B and L1 Visa Fees By About $2000, huh??

It is shocking for Indian IT companies as well as some outsourcing firms as US has passed the bill that will hike the US Visa fees by about $2000 for a single visa. The earlier fees and the now-revised rates are as follows:-

Earlier Fees:

H1B : Near About $320

L1 : Near about $320

Now, the revised rates

H1B : Near About $2,320

L1 : Near about $2,570

How it hits hard on Indian IT companies

The visa fees is hiked only for those companies who have more than 50 per cent of their employees on such visas, those are mostly Indian IT companies and outsourcing firms.

The Indian IT giants like Infosys, Wipro, Tata, Satyam etc and the other outsourcing companies send thousands of their employees to the US to work at as technicians and engineers for their clients on such visas. These companies employ there employees on high paying US tech jobs on less salary, in easiest language pick up engineers and tech guys from India, send them all to US to work with their clients on such US visas. So as per some of the US senators, they eat up American jobs accepting some less pay, as they need to pay their employees far more less.

The US based companies like Microsoft, Google will not be impacted with this move because, they have offices in India for capturing the native market, and very less outsourcing. So they definitely do not have more than 50% of their employees on such visas. And others like Cognizant, CSC and lot more who do involve in outsourcing activities still will not be impacted with this steep hike because they also do not have more than 50% of their employees on such visas, they in fact they outsource some of their work in countries like India and a small percentage of employees are on onsite (in this case US) to help the offshore to complete the work and have a proper communication with the clients. For these companies the onsite is basically for filling the communication gap between the offshore and clients. As well these companies still have lot of their employees in their native companies, as they altogether are not based on outsourcing strategy.

Why US has taken such a harsh decision

They needed to raise near about $600 million emergency funds for securing the US-Mexico border. US plans to use this money raised from hiking the visa fees to add another 1,500 agents and put in place greater number of unmanned aerial vehicles that scan the border for undocumented immigrants or illegal drug runners on US-Mexico border.

This visa fees hike is estimated to raise more than $200 million annually, so it will definitely help US to secure their plans.

As well, it will also help America to secure some jobs for Americans, I think.

So this is all, very very disappointing for Indian IT giants, but yeah, America is trying to help its citizens. So, good decision for a country, so I still vote 50-50.
